Create a 30 second commercial for Drupal (#1) #116

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Drupal is used by a wide variety of high-profile websites because of its
flexibility the customization it allows. It is also known for having an
active and involved user and developer community. We are always looking
for new ways to show others the benefits of Drupal, and a 30 second
television commercial style video would be a great way to do this.

Part 1:
Develop and write a script for your commercial. You should include both
spoken words (if any) as well as stage directions and a rough outline of
what will happen in the commercial. Once you have written your script you
should post that to the drupal.org issue at http://drupal.org/node/202312
for feedback.

Part 2:
After receiving feedback from the community, you should make your
commercial. You can use whatever video editing tools you have access to
create your commercial. It should be focused, to the point, and make the
viewer want to download or use Drupal.

Technical specifications:
* Must have a resolution of at least 640 x 480
* Must be in a video format that is an open standard (see the resources
section of this task for more information and suggestions)
* Must be licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 2.5
license (also known as the CC-BY-SA license). This logo should be added at
the end of the commercial and must be present for at least 5 seconds.
These 5 seconds are in addition to the 30 second requirement of the commercial.
* The commercial must not contain any material that has not also been
released under the creative commons license you are using for your
commercial. This includes both audio and video used in the commercial.
* Your commercial may not include any human actors who are identifiable and
who are under the age of 18 years old.

Deliverable: The final deliverable for this task is 1) a script for your
commercial and 2) your commercial, which meets the technical specifications
above. The commercial must not contain any content that you do not have
the right to release under the CC-BY-SA license. In addition, if your work
includes content other than your own, you must submit a list of source
works along with links showing that they are licensed in a way that allows
them to be used in your video.

Resources:
* Create your own Drupal Videocast: http://drupal.org/node/62196 (Note:
though this page is targeted for a videocast, there is a lot of useful
information on the page).
* Creative Commons:  http://creativecommons.org/

Ok funkychicken818, this task is yours. Please post your work and any
questions to
the drupal.org issue for this task at http://drupal.org/node/202312

We give students 1 week for all tasks now. If you are posting regular progress
(in
the case of this task, a script first and then the commercial) we can extend
that by
a bit if you ask us. The most important thing is that you stay in contact with
us
and that you are making progress.

Hi funkychicken818

How is this going so far? It would be great if you could post your script soon
so we
can make sure you're on the right track. Feel free to drop in to #drupal-ghop
or
#drupal on irc.freenode.net if you have any questions.

I am interested in how this is going.. there has not been an update by the
claimer,
and I am beginning to question whether or not funkychicken818 is really working
on
the script at this time. Any updates would be greatly appreciated.

Hi funkychicken818, please post your work to the Drupal issue

I'm setting this one back to Open. There are still a couple hours left before 3
days
passes, but I'm going to be on a plane, and unfortunately funkychicken hasn't
given
any indication that they've even started on this task.

So far I have thought about what to say for my commercial. I will be back on
Thursday to work on it some more. Over the weekend I will start filming my
commercial. If possible I might need some more time.

This task is technically due today. Please post any work you have done already
for
this task. If you're making progress, we can give you a little extra time to
finish
this. Remember that no task can be claimed after 2:00 AM Pacific Time / 08:00
UTC on
January 22nd, and that all tasks must be completed by 12:00 AM Pacific Time /
08:00
UTC on Feb 4.

I know you don't have computer club until tuesday, so I won't close this task
today.
However, we need to see some work that you've done on this so we can see that you're
going in the right direction. Please get back with us on Tuesday!

I don't think I want to work on this task any more. You can put this task back
to
open.

Thanks for letting us know. It's actually too late for students to claim tasks
right
now, so if you want to you could work on this until midnight PST on Feb. 4. If
you
are sure you're not interested in finishing this, just let me know and we can
remove
you from this task.

Setting the status to TimeWarpNeeded since the student has told us that the
task is
unlikely to be finished. This way we don't keep checking it but if by some
chance a
time warp opens up the student might be able to submit before the deadline. :)
