Create a recipe for setting up a shopping cart site in Drupal #121

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
This task is to prepare a recipe or tutorial for setting up a simple
shopping cart with a few basic features using Drupal 5 and the Ubercart e-
commerce suite. ( http://www.ubercart.org/ )

The recipe will require that the student prepare either a video screen
cast or written instructions with annotated screen shots of how to setup a
shopping cart site. The instructions must include a list of all modules
used and how they are put together, and what features they offer.

The final deliverable will be a published page or video in the Drupal.org
handbooks, reviewed by a member of the documentation team.

Your project should describe setup of the following basic aspects of a
shopping cart available through Ubercart core download or supported
modules:

- products
- product images
- product classes
- product groups
- product attributes
- taxes
- shipping
- payment gateway integration
- install an additional cart specific contributed module of your choice

One example that would encompass these things might be a site that sells
clothing. Different classes could be hat and shirt. Different groups could
be winter and summer apparel. Attributes could be sizes or colors.

If creating a screencast, please follow the guidelines established at
http://drupal.org/node/62196 .

This task is due today. Please post any progress you've made on this task
(such as
an outline, etc.) to the drupal issue at http://drupal.org/node/203852 and also
just
post a reply here letting us know about the progress you are making. If we
don't
hear from you soon we'll have to reopen this task for others to claim.

I am making progress and this task will be done by Sunday the 13th. I will type
up my
written outline and post it to the Drupal issue.

Ok, sounds good. Once we get a script we can officially extend the deadline a
bit,
but we won't unassign you from this as long as you show us some good progress by
Sunday.

I have posted so far of the outline I have written down. I will update it
throughout
the time I'm working this until I make the finished product.

linuxlover101 has posted the script in the drupal.org issue for this task, so
I'll
extend the deadline until this Sunday and we'll see how things are going at
that point.

Have you made any progress on this? If not, we'll have to open back up for
other
students to claim.

Since you posted the first part of your video, I'm going to extend the due date
for
this task some. Please try to get this done this weekend or before, so we can
cross
this one off the list.

Also, remember that no task can be claimed after 2:00 AM Pacific Time / 08:00
UTC on
January 22nd, and that all tasks must be completed by 12:00 AM Pacific Time /
08:00
UTC on Feb 4.

I know you've been busy with homework, but it would be great if you could get
this
wrapped up soon, especially if you're planning to claim another task before the
deadline tomorrow.

Yeah, I just noticed the deadline to claim another task. I'll get this done
today.
I've been working on a handbook page. It mainly consists of the required
modules that
need to be installed and activated and I'm not going to bother to demonstrate
installation and activation. I'm sure there are other resources for that. I'm
just
going to focus on the set up of the Shopping Cart. I'll be working on this
throughout the day today (since I have all my homework done now :D).
Just wanted to let you know that I'm not ditching this.

Oh, that's great news! If you get your finished work to us today I'll try to
make
sure that it gets reviewed in time for you to claim another task.

It has been updated at the drupal issue. I've submitted the video and I'll
submit the
handbook later tomorrow/today (Jan 21).

Hopefully the handbook page is not required for the task because I need to have
this
done so I can claim another one really quick. I'll be sure to post one though.

BTW, can you please make sure to upload your video to this google tracker
issue. If
it's too large, you'll need to upload it to Google Video as well and then put
the
link for the version of the video on Google video here (sorry for this, but
Google
requires this). You'll need to do this to get credit for the task.

In order to get credit for this task, please upload your final work to this
issue.

for more information.

Question on the credit I have my second draft that I could upload, but I plan on
doing the screencast one more time to address the final points on the Drupal
issue.
Can the second draft suffice for credit? or would you like me to wait until I
have
the final draft?

Original comment by linuxlov...@gmail.com on 26 Jan 2008 at 3:21

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
You can upload whatever you had finished when you got credit for the task, or
whatever you have at this point, if that is different. There's no need for you
to
wait any more since you've already been given credit for the task. The
uploading
here is just a requirement of Google.
