Ok suvajitpal, this task is yours. I'm setting the due date as one week from
today,
which is what we do with all projects. If you think you'll have trouble
finishing
the task by then its best for you to let us know and we'll un-assign you from
this
task. Then after your exams you can claim any open task. But if you think you
can
finish in a week then go for it.
Please post any questions, comments, and your progress to the drupal.org issue
for
this task at http://drupal.org/node/200844

Hello, i want to ask, am I suppose to install this on my localhost machine?
Where can
I get the additional info especially question 3 to 6?
Original comment by TheFiboV...@gmail.com
on 6 Jan 2008 at 7:11
Yes, you would want to install these on your own computer or some host that you
have
control of. As for questions 3-6, I can't help you there, but hopefully
sreevalli.venturi will chime in and answer your question.

Hi,
Yes, you should install them on your localhost to get around them.
3) Security concerns.
Check about how the payments are handled, how are the details stored, SSL s etc
etc
4) How easy is it to implement one's own design independent of business logic.
You need to talk about how easy is it to embed our own designs into the website.
eg: templates, ajaxy effects etc etc
5) How good is it in handling high traffic web applications.
at some ideal conditions - which framework is stable in handling high traffics
...
6) Ease of integration of 3rd party APIs.
3rd party APIs such as sales force etc etc ....
you need to talk about whether there are any direct plugins available etc etc
I hope you got a rough idea now!
feel free for any further queries.

Marking as Needs review. I took a quick look at your work and it looks like
the .pdf
file does a good job on task 1. I don't have a program to read the other
files, so
didn't look at them.
One thing--please see comment #1 above.
You should post your work in the drupal.org issue and you should get more
feedback.

A handbook page under http://drupal.org/cases -> http://drupal.org/node/28583
has
been added (http://drupal.org/node/208067)
Student has uploaded detailed analysis as pdfs here.
Suggest filling out http://drupal.org/node/208067 with an actual table (html)
listed
in Comparisons.pdf and Conclusion.pdf -- subpages could then be created for each
package detail: Zen Cart, Ubercart, etc.

Also, as a side note, http://drupal.org/cases could contain a highlight of this
E-Commerce comparison along with the other cases it highlights: Community Portal
Sites, News Publishing, etc. This node requires special priv. to edit though.

Thanks TheFiboVinciCoder. It's a great effort and help from you.
My apologies, if my words seems like criticism. Here are few more thoughts on
the
report.
1. In reviewing the Oscommerce, you say "First of all, by default, oSCommerce
will
perform very slowly if it’s handling mass traffic". But it is very unclear.
a. What is the standard you measure a mass traffic. Is it a lakh a day or a
million a day or just a few thousands a day?
b. Where is the actual bottleneck in Oscommerce and how Drupal overcomes this
issue?
c. Oscommerce.pdf and Drupal Ecommerce.pdf differ in their analysis. It would
be more useful, if you discuss the same topic in both files. For example, search
engine issue that is discussed in Oscommerce is not discussed in Drupal...
2. I have few more questions, which are all not very techincal. Some of them
maybe
simple but they are the common questions that ordinary people may have. You can
read
them at http://groups.drupal.org/node/8096#comment-24643

Same multisite configuration is given/written in both drupal e-commerce &
ubercart
files. Also zencart doc doesnt seem be as a self made doc.
On the whole docs needs more work to be done.

As I commented in http://drupal.org/node/208067#comment-687459 this is a nice
comparison.
Suggestions for additional features to compare:
* Provision for selling online goods (downloads)
* Provision for user roles (access to paid content)
* Provision for subscriptions
* Multi-lingual provisions
* Multi-currency provisions
* Sub-products / product variations
* Coupons (discounts)
* Reports
* Configuration options
* Workflow options
And, as you are comparing CMS' with dedicated e-commerce packages, you could
shed
some light on specific CMS features.
Overall, good work!
