"As an advanced user I would like the ability to embed Visio (vsd/vsdx) files onto GCpedia without changing the file format.

Someone made an EmbedAll extension (see here: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:EmbedAll)

The ability to embed this content would allow for use to build a page that suites our needs and it's (the page) purpose"

looks like that extension was archived, https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:SimpleEmbed seems to do the same thing.
