The tpm support is badly incomplete, and expresses yet one more OpenSSL dependency, plus a dependency upon the trousers package. Removing it reduces one more thing.
The main loss of functionality people will experience here is loss of use of the tpm as an entropy source. However, modern CPUs have much better entropy sources to use for /dev/random.
Perhaps it would be a good idea to punt the tpm bits into their own repo, much as we've done with other stuff we have ejected, in case some distro wants it.
