Podcasts with a specific sort order should still be respected when using Append mode. E.g. a podcast set with "older first", is currently pulling the most recent.
Yep, I’m using highest priority sorting, and it’s sorting the podcasts in the playlist correctly (my news podcasts with a priority of 100 show up at the top for instance)
I was about to say that it always chooses the most recent episode of the podcast but I’ve realised that might not be right. What I’ve actually seen is that for the two specific podcast where I was looking for this - both of them podcasts with hundreds of episodes I want to go through from the start - it’s picking the most recent episode instead of following the podcast’s sort order. I’ve attached a few screenshots below of one podcast, “the constant”, showing that it’s set to “order published” and yet the most recent episode has been selected.
I took the pic of the Continuous Playback playlist right after using the refresh button. That fixed a bunch of things quite nicely - put the latest news episodes in at the top of the list for instance - but didn’t change which episode of The Constant was picked.
However…
While I was looking at that, I noticed that another podcast, Black Box Down, does have an older episode selected - so it seems it’s respecting the podcast sort order for some and not for others.
The last screenshot I’ve included is Black Box Down, showing that the episode in Continuous Playback is actually the third unplayed episode, not the first. It did originally choose the first two - but then I moved them from up to the queue. That made the episodes get downloaded and left the third episode as the one in continuous playback. I’ve since removed them from the queue but they haven’t gone back to continuous playback
