This could be done once we're ready to release as it's not possible to change the package name after the apk has been deployed to the Play Store. (ie. when we're finished with the alpha, the whole app would need to be republished)

I agree that package namespaces SHOULD match a domain owned by the parties responsible, but I think we could leave it at org.gdg.
