Typically, most popular commerce platforms used a monolithic approach to creating e-commerce websites. This comes from the traditional client-server web architecture popular at the early 2000's. Also, it needs to be considered that most e-commerce managers come from non-IT background and demand a quick and easy to use solution at early stages of the product/service offering.
Headless commerce is the decoupling of the presentation layer from the e-commerce platform, commonly for more flexibility in content management and delivery, UX and even SEO. It simplifies multi-channel strategies, increases services flexibility and improves time to market of new features.
At this talk we will discuss the design aspects for both approaches with some hints to decide on the one to choose. The concerns exposed during this talk might be useful to take architectural decisions for other domains.
