I made this very simple design for the Grasslands, the idea is that it showcases some aspects of the course so:

Plenty of space to test the movement
Some porcupines to play with
An enemies pit with the Shop right before is so the player can buy some items before entering it
And the door to the cave, which in my mind can be the Boss pit!

Also it involves something like having like a secret area for a special drop (maybe the sword?)
