I use APRSDroid on phone in AFSK mode and simply set radio close to phone to send and receive packets. It worked fine.

Until recently. Now only sending packets works but APRSDroid does not decode heard packets.

APRSDroid shows blue line as it hears something, but it does not decode.

I tried this on two phones and it behave the same.

One phone has Android 6.0, and APRSDroid 1.3.0-68-g7e4dfc5+ 2017-05-11 (I see there is newer version but for some reason phone says it cannot install it)

Other phone has Android 4.1.1, and and APRSDRoid 1.3.0-71-g6676338+ 2017-05-23 whchshould be the latest.

Can you test with the two phones if packets generated by aprsdroid on one phone via the speaker will be decoded by the other phone via microphone?

Other than that, it might be a volume or reception quality issue with your radio. My usual recommendation is to set the volume so that the blue line is somewhere around 80% when a packet comes in...

Need help.

I'm using APRS to track a high altitude balloon as part of a middle school project. It will be very helpful to directly receive position reports from the payload package when searching for it after landing when it is too far from a repeater for the network to pick up the transmissions. The tracking radio is from Byonics and works very well. The problem I have is that APRSdroid isn't displaying the GPS coordinates in a readable form. It appears to send them in a string of semi-random ASCII characters. I know the app is receiving them because it displays location on the offline map. Any suggestions? Next launch is a week away.
