APRSdroid 1.6.3a crashing when connected to USB to RS232 serial adapter #357

Quite a long story actually, but i would like to use APRSdroid as an APRS mapper in a similar fashion to the discontinued AvMap G6 for the Kenwood TM-D710 (which doesn't have a built-in GPS). It did work pretty well with the RS232 serial adapter when in version 1.6.2b in KISS mode, but when i got myself an adapter for the GPS port, i then used the Kenwood NMEA mode, and after starting the APRS tracking process, the entire app froze. After a while the entire app soft-locked, not being able to access the Hub menu, and could only have the settings menu open in the app for some reason, even after clearing the cache. So i uninstalled the app, and installed 1.6.3a, and that's when it started to having problems with the serial cable. Just pressing the "Start tracking" button, the app crashes instantly, until i unplug the cable.

No, i don't want to purchase a Bluetooth-to-RS232 serial adapter, as they are way too expensive for something as trivial as having GPS on a TM-D710, as i could just purchase a GPS puck for less. No, i can't access crash reports because i don't want to pay $25 for a developer account in the Play Console app.

I could also point out that when trying it out on version 1.6.2b the issue is quite similar to #313
