Draft Introduction #5

I think we've got some great stuff in right now that can be pulled together as a first draft of the Introduction.

In particular, there are a number of pieces of text that should go into the middle of the Introduction (the "funnel" that gets from the opening at the beginning of the Introduction to the challenge at the end). I've added notes in commits to the repo of pieces of text that I think would work well in this section.

I also noted a couple of sentences that can be our starting draft of our "challenge", as the last paragraph of the Introduction. I've added some notes about how we might want to strengthen our language on this as we edit, but it would work as-is as a first draft.

Finally, for the opening, I think that you'll want to draft a new paragraph or two that talk about the importance of understanding the impacts that disasters have on society. I've opened another Issue with some ideas for references we might want to look into for that paragraph.

With these pieces, I think we'll have a nice first draft of our Introduction that we can then work on refining.

I have pushed a new version of the storm events outline that has my first draft of an introduction. I still have it split up by opening, funnel, and challenge just so that editing is easier.

Great, I'll take a look!

I just read through, and I love the draft of the Intro now!

I suggest that you make a new document ("paper_draft.Rmd" or similar) where you can move in each section as you have a solid draft. I would say this Intro's definitely at "solid draft" stage now. We will go through in later revisions and tighten it up a bit and also perhaps work some more on wording and transitions, but the content is 100% what we want for the Intro for this paper.
