Gadget needs to help user with state #61

Currently the gadget gives an outline of the user's state so many users think 
that entering their state name is unnecessary.

We should help them out by either:

1) Defaulting to the outlined state if no state is entered

or 
2) Giving them some sort of push to enter a state...maybe it appears in the 
input box automatically or something.

I prefer (1) but would like to know people's thoughts.
