Yes. Back in Gecko rolling again today, and typing in Gmail produces, ẗhe same"result, as shown here, using the first quotation makes an umlaut over the letter, rather than in front, the second quote renders OK, but using the space bar does not move the next word away by one space, but types it following the quote. Makes for a ¨painful"typing experience.
As of late Gecko is the sole remaining system that is doing this on this machine . . . .

Back in Gecko rolling again today . . . ran a bunch of ¨firmware"packages through via zypper and we can see that the ümlaut"and not spacing with spacebar problem is still ḧappening" . . . using the spacebar seems to turn the following umlaut into a regular quotation mark, but does not move the cursor up a notch.
Problem still is alive and well.

Not to continue to flog the . . . dead . . . unresponsive horse . . . but also today I booted my Gecko rolling Plasma distro in my newer '20 Sys76 Gazelle laptop . . . and in that system the "umlaut" problem did not seem to appear.
The problem is still happening in my Gecko rolling MATE distro on my '12 Mac Pro.

Just providing feedback, using rolling MATE yesterday I was using Liberation Sans in LO Writer, and typing the leading quotation mark would be turned into what might be similar to an "umlaut" . . . where the letter following the quotation mark would be turned into a letter with an umlaut over it . . . .
I emailed the docx to myself to get it to a less power hungry machine and then it took 15-20 minutes using LO in Pop!_OS to edit out all of the problems made in the other version of LO . . . . When I tried to save the doc it said something like, "We can't save it as docx, we have to use "translational"????
I'm not sure if this is related to the "harfuzz"??? font bug problem or something else. I've seen posts on Mastodon where others were complaining about font issues . . . seemed like it might have hit all of my OpenSUSE distros, this "umlaut" problem, but might have been cleaned up . . . pretty sure my TW install no longer has this issue . . . . Today is Deb Trixie day, does not seem to have the problem in typing this out. But, seemed to still be afflicting the rolling MATE distro that I was using yesterday, particularly affecting the fore and aft quotation mark fonting . . . .
I recall seeing in some apt/zypper/pacman upgrades something like "harfuzz" in the packages listed?? Can't say if my Gecko MATE did or did not get those upgrade/fixes?? but, in any event the "fix is not in" for the Gecko as of yesterday. : - 0
