Issue 88 #89

Hello,

This is a proposal to fix #88 .

I understand there are multiple open PR at the moment regarding flushing the rules and not an enormous recent activity on the project which may considered good enough for most common use cases and that something is to be used for more complex cases.

23bab74 and 48f912c could be separate PR as they treat, in my opinion, bugs for which I have not created specific issues. I just don't want to spam 3 PR at once.
