RISC-V vs. ARMv8 #23

Closed juanpc2018 closed 8 months ago

RISC-V is Open Source, ARM is Not.. its licenced,

RISC OS is the the original ARM operating system, made by Acorn.

you are comparing Apples to Pears.

is Not about speed, is about freedom.

if want a Fast closed source, buy Apple M.

maybe you should compare vs. older RISC CPUs like those used in sgi workstations. DOOM and Quake were ported to sgi irix, Alpha AIX, etc... even C64.

same dilema x86_64 vs. POWER9 CPUs, Raptorcs Talos 2 boards are Open Source, x86_64 are closed. the speed of the Power9 CPU is Not Magic, but is better vs. older Apple G5 QUAD. https://www.phoronix.com/news/Raptor-TALOS2-Initial-Tests https://www.phoronix.com/review/power9-threadripper-core9 https://www.phoronix.com/review/power9-linux-distros/2 https://www.phoronix.com/review/power9-x86-servers https://www.phoronix.com/review/power9-talos-2

Linux is Open source, should stop supporting closed source hardware? like closed source OS does? what if there was No open sorce ?
