Hi Deep Sea group,

I am very excited to see this repo for deep sea microbial ecology! Couple quick comments/questions:

  1. I spoke to Pier a couple months ago about potential interest in using https://github.com/evidenceontology/evidenceontology for some of this work. Let me know what you need!
  2. Is there any potential tie in to https://github.com/microbialphenotypes/OMP-ontology ? Not sure if that's within your perceived scope, but please do keep us in mind if you need some phenotype-related terminology.
  3. Is there an ongoing discussion/call/thread that I should be paying attention to? Please advise. Happy to do a call if there is interest.

Thanks! Marcus

Hi Marcus and thanks for your post! It's been quiet here, but we're gathering up ideas and will add material as soon ad we can.

Yes, I'd like to add eco to an application ontology I'm building for some of our observatory work. I'll add you to that repo once it's public.

OMP is definitely interesting. I think we can add some content or at least help form a deep sea subset.

Most discussions happen in house, and are more domain flavoured at this point. But we'll reach out when we start building.

In the meantime, could you give us some examples of ECO usage? On 2 Jun 2016 04:30, "Marcus Chibucos" notifications@github.com wrote:

A note that might be of interest from elsewhere in the org--AmiGO code for handling base geospatial data is now live in the codebase: geneontology/amigo#341 . We're always looking for new use cases.
