PANTHER:PTN000156122 SERPIN ANNOTATION #1238

Closed gocentral closed 9 years ago

gocentral commented 9 years ago

Some Serpins lack the protease targeting cleavage site and therefore are non-inhibitory.

In D.mel these have been predicted to be: Spn28Db Spn31A Spn43Ab Spn43Ad Spn47C Spn53F Spn75F Acp76A Spn77Bb Spn77Bc Spn85F Spn100A

PMID:19849829

The non-inhibitory D.mel Serpins: Spn43Ad Spn43Ab Spn100A Spn47C Spn85F Spn31A Spn28Db Acp76A Spn77Bb

Need to have these terms removed from PTN000156122 propagation: serine-type endopeptidase inhibitor activity negative regulation of endopeptidase activity regulation of proteolysis

Thanks

Hi Helen,

I am finally having a look at this one. Looks like you guys have made the explicit NOT annotations for all the proteins you mention in your message, so these will be gone. However there are several others in the same areas of the tree; show I 'NOT' them as well ? See attached screenshot.

Thanks, Pascale

Hi Pascale,

No, leave those. The evolutionary pathway of these losses in activity are believed to be fairly recent events and the NOT's we've annotated are based on sequence analysis of conserved residues (the ones with positive annotation have intact/conserved sites) - PMID:19849829 (also via a personal communication (http://flybase.org/reports/FBrf0219843.html). Also, don't propagate NOTs to Anopheles gambiae - looking at the supp table in PMID:22960307, only Serpins 13, 18A-C and 19 are putative non-inhibitory Serpins.

Thanks,

Helen

OK then ! So all the NOT are now manual, and the other annotations will not overwrite them in the PAINT GAF file.

Hopefully this one is now resolved.

Pascale
