Review external2go mappings #2056

The QAQC group will be reviewing the external2go mappings that exist here:

http://viewvc.geneontology.org/viewvc/GO-SVN/trunk/external2go/

to determine:

  1. Are the mappings still being used for annotation?

  2. Who is responsible for maintaining the mappings?

  3. Who is responsible for applying the mappings?

@vanaukenk Noting similarity to https://github.com/geneontology/go-site/issues/996 ; would you prefer work to be done in one or the other location?

@kltm - No strong preference. I'm fine with continuing in go-site as there seems to be more detail there.

(Reopening - These were in fact two different tickets. )

How can we know if a mapping is being used ? I think we can query the GO database and GOA; but I don't know if we can find out whether other people use them; right ? @vanaukenk @kltm Do you have suggestions ?
