Hi Karen,
I submitted this family to Pfam and it is described as
phospho-ethanolamine N-methyltransferase, the description was derived from the SGD annotation for "GPI phosphoethanolamine N-methyltransferase activity"
which does look incorrect, so I will query this with them, and get teh naem of the Pfam family changes if this is misleading...you are right it doesn't fall into the methytransferase superfamily so this activity is unlikely.

Hi,
I'm not sure PIG-F is actually a methyltransferase. It seems to be some sort of regulatory subunit for PIG-O and possibly PIG-G/GPI7, which are phosphoethanolamine methyltransferases.
See PMID: 12655644 and PMID: 15632136
It seems that this methyltransferase name comes from Pfam and/or Panther. I can submit requests to those databases as well if necessary.
Thanks,
Karen
