Hi Sandra,
What's the evidence that TFIIS proteins bind to nucleic acid at all?
The crystal structure of TFIIS with RNA pol II shows that it interacts with the polymerase and sticks a long narrow domain into a hole in the polymerase that gives it access to the catalytic site, but I've never seen any evidence that TFIIS binds nucleic acids, of any kind, on its own.
thanks,
-Karen

Hi,
I think the association of these two InterPro domains to 'DNA binding' may be incorrect. As far as I'm aware, TFIIS proteins are only known to bind to RNA polymerase II.
thanks,
-Karen
