PTN000385050 adds "glutaminyl-tRNA synthase (glutamine-hydrolyzing) activity" to GATC orthologs based on a source 'enables by' annotation to HUMAN|HGNC=25068|UniProtKB=O43716 from PMID:19805282 PTN000224178 and PTN000183793 adds the same term to GATA and GATB orthologs, respectively, based in part to 'enables by' annotations to human GATA (Q9H0R6) and GATB (O75879) from the same paper.

However, Fig 3 of PMID:19805282 shows that neither subunit GATB or the dimer [GATC-QRSL1] (where QRSL1 is aka GATA) alone has activity. Instead, both GATB + [GATC-QRSL1] are needed, suggesting that a 'contributes to' might be appropriate. Indeed, only GATB and QRSL1/GATA are thought to be the catalytic subunits of this conserved complex - GATC is required for the proper folding of the catalytic A and B subunits of the GatCAB enzyme (e.g. see the introductions of PMID: 24579914 or PMID: 16809541).

I've disputed the 3 human annotations in P2GO, so they should be amended soon.

So for the PAINT node:

We have also the annotations for yeast and Plasmodium falciparum. I've removed the PAN-GO annotation for GATC. For GATA and GATB we need a "contributes to" primary annotation, so we will have to wait until those are changed. We just made the changes in Prot2GO. As you know, passing through the whole pipeline might take several months. I let the ticket open until we will be able to make the change.

About the remaining tickets opened since may that are waiting for new primary annotation, none is available yet. Patience, patience... ;-)
