These are the Walker A and Walker B motif at the N and C -erm of SMC family proteins.
They are not all involved in chromosome segregation, some (i.e.. smc5-6) are involved in DNA repair.
could be mapped to chromosome organization and biogenesis (sensu Eukaryaryota)
(which isn't curretnly a parent of condensation/segregation etc, but should be and is in another SF entry)
