Writing the definition:

-%oxidoreductase activity, acting on CH-OH group of donors ; GO:0016614 def: Catalysis of oxidation-reduction (redox) reactions, acting on CH- OH group of donors. 'Oxidoreductase, acting on CH-OH group of donors' is the systematic name for any enzyme of class EC 1.1.

Acceptors may include: NAD or NADP as acceptor cytochrome as acceptor oxygen as acceptor disulfide as acceptor quinone or similar compound as acceptor other acceptors in EC 1.1.99

After discussion within the EBI GO group, we've changed the def for oxidoreductase activity to "Catalysis of an oxidation-reduction (redox) reaction, a reversible chemical reaction in which the oxidation state of an atom or atoms within a molecule is altered. One substrate acts as a hydrogen or electron donor and becomes oxidized, while the other acts as hydrogen or electron acceptor and becomes reduced."

Child term defs can be derived from this.
