@dosumis and I have decided that the relations for the cell-cell signaling term should indeed be: has_start_location: astrocyte has_end_location: dopaminergic neuron
Will add this in on Thursday...
(Reminder to myself: has_target_end_location/has_target_start_location are the relations for transport terms)
Added: astrocyte-dopaminergic neuron signaling ; GO:0036520
Just waiting on above Github cell-cell term discussions before adding the intersections in.
Intersections added, so closing ticket.
I want to add a new cell-cell signaling term for astrocyte-mDA neuron signaling to annotate Wnt1 produced in astrocytes stimulating a signal transduction pathway in the neighbouring dopaminergic neuron.
I'm struggling to capture this with annotation extensions, and it's a common theme in Parkinson's research so merits it's own GO term anyway:
cell-cell signaling ; GO:0007267 --[isa]astrocyte-dopaminergic neuron cell signaling ; NEW
astrocyte-dopaminergic neuron cell signaling PMID:21752258, PMID:12794311 GOC:PARL, GOC:bf synonym (related): dopaminergic neuron-astrocyte crosstalk [PMID:21752258] synonym (narrow) midbrain dopaminergic neuron-astrocyte crosstalk [PMID:21752258] synonym (narrow) mesencephalic dopaminergic neuron-astrocyte crosstalk [PMID:21752258] Cell-cell signaling that mediates the transfer of information from an astrocyte to a dopaminergic neuron.
Any suggestions on creating a nice logical definition? The CL terms are in-place but the combinations I tried-out seemed unsatisfactory. Would 'has_start_location/has_end_location work', or is that restricted to transport terms? CL:0000127 | astrocyte CL:0000700 ! dopaminergic neuron
Also, @RLovering and I think it would be worth having grouping terms for: heterotypic cell-cell signaling ; GO:NEW homotypic cell-cell signaling ; GO:NEW
Thanks!
