A side note about these 'noncoding RNAs' I have come across miRNAs that in addition to having the traditional regulatory effects on translation, some have been shown to also be translated to yield short peptides with their onw function. (see PMID:25807486
We (MGI) also note that we see UniProtKB entries with proper methionine starts mapping to lncRNA genes; looking at the genomic we even see a polyA tail, so that they look like processed pseudogenes. If we see data that the protein really exists we may think about chaning the biotype from lncRNA to a protein-coding gene. See also PMID:27713758 My point is that if you annotated RBM7 to lncRNA binding; what if the RNA in question does in fact code for something.
