id: GO:0080048 name: GDP-D-glucose phosphorylase activity namespace: molecular_function alt_id: GO:0010474 def: "Catalysis of the reaction: GDP-alpha-D-glucose + phosphate = alpha-D-glucose-1-phosphate + GDP." [PMID:17462988, PMID:18463094] synonym: "GDP:glucose-1-phosphate guanyltransferase activity" EXACT [] synonym: "glucose-1-phosphate guanylyltransferase (GDP) activity" EXACT [] xref: EC:2.7.7.78 xref: MetaCyc:RXN-12486 xref: RHEA:30387 is_a: GO:0070568 ! guanylyltransferase activity
"GDP-D-glucose phosphorylase activity" (GO:0080048) is currently classified in the GO as a subtype of hexosyl transferase (GO:0016758, EC:2.4.1.-), and is the immediate child of 'phosphorylase activity' (GO:0004645, 2.4.1.1)
However, the EC xref for "GDP-D-glucose phosphorylase activity" is given as 2.7.7.78, which is a subtype of nucleotidyltransferases: https://enzyme.expasy.org/EC/2.7.7.78 If that is true, then this GO term should be child of "nucleotidyltransferase activity" (GO:0016779, EC 2.7.7.-) instead of, or may be as well as, its current placement.
Anyone have any insights here?
