In fact this in on the H2AX variant - this position does not exist on the canonical H2A -need to edit term label and possibly the definiton

If I read this "caution" note attached to the UniProt entry for Tetrahymena H2AX, this numbering scheme is really unstable - is this good for generality and maintainability of GO, or is it more nearly a short-term hack to solve a specific annotation problem and ensure that there will be plenty of clean-up and revision and general churn for future GO curators and users?

Caution To ensure consistency between histone entries, we follow the 'Brno' nomenclature for histone modifications, with positions referring to those used in the literature for the 'closest' model organism. Due to slight variations in histone sequences between organisms and to the presence of initiator methionine in UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot sequences, the actual positions of modified amino acids in the sequence generally differ. In this entry the following conventions are used: H2AK5ac = acetylated Lys-6; H2AK8ac = acetylated Lys-9; H2AK10ac = acetylated Lys-11; H2AK12ac = acetylated Lys-13; H2AK17ac = acetylated Lys-18; H2AS122ph = phosphorylated Ser-123; H2AK123ub1 = monoubiquitinated Lys-124; H2AS124ph = phosphorylated Ser-125; H2AS129ph = phosphorylated Ser-130; H2AS134ph = phosphorylated Ser-135.

Created grouping term

+[Term] +id: GO:0141003 +name: histone H2AX kinase activity +namespace: molecular_function +def: "Catalysis of the transfer of a phosphate group to a histone variant H2AX." [GOC:bf] +is_a: GO:0035173 ! histone kinase activity +created_by: pg +creation_date: 2023-02-28T13:55:39Z +

and fixed label of GO:0140801 to histone H2AXY142 kinase activity

Thanks, Pascale
