can this have a 'translation, (iniitation of translation? regulation of initiation of translation parentage, in addition) rather than only protein biosynthesis?

also I am looking for the specific transferase activity which describes

"2'-O-ribosyl phosphate transferase, modifies the initiator methionine tRNA at position 64 to distinguish it from elongator methionine tRNA"

does this exist?

John G informs me that fmet-tRNA only ever occurs as part of translation, so will go ahead and make that relationship.

Okay - made 'conversion of met-tRNAf to fmet-tRNA ; GO:0001718' a part_of 'translational initiation ; GO:0006413'.

Have emailed John to see if he can answer the other question.

The enzyme is P23796 isn't it? In UniProt they've got it as being called 'tRNA A64-2'-O-ribosylphosphate transferase', synonym 'initiator tRNA phosphoribosyl-transferase'.

There doesn't seem to be a GO term for it, UniProt have it annotated to 'transferase activity, transferring pentosyl groups' which is correct, but we could make a more specific term.

Do you think it warrants one?

I have ~26 'things' annotated to this term, so i think more granular would be helpful here

Okay - any preference as to whether it's called 'tRNA A64-2'-O-ribosylphosphate transferase' or 'initiator tRNA phosphoribosyl-transferase'?

Added:

tRNA A64-2'-O-ribosylphosphate transferase ; GO:0043399

as a child of ''transferase activity, transferring pentosyl groups ; GO:0016763'
