ntr: tRNA (m2G10) methyltransferase complex #2765

Closed gocentral closed 9 years ago

gocentral commented 19 years ago

A methyltransferase complex required for the methylation of the guanosine nucleotide at position 10 (m2G10) in tRNAs

In S. cerevisiae, this complex consists of two subunits, Gcd10p and Gcd14p.

Just saw this new entry posted and had a couple of comments.

1) Based on the def. source provided, I think the last line of the definition should read:

In S. cerevisiae, this complex consists of two subunits, Trm11p and Trm112p.

as these are the two subunits of the m2G10 MTase complex.

2) As for the source, I would probably suggest you list the paper that purified and characterized the complex (PMID:15899842)

Cheers, Rob

Hi Val - I won't add that parent term cos we don't really want to get in to grouping by function in the component ontology and I'm pretty sure you get methyltransferases all over the place. But the child term seems fine.

Oh bugger - didn't read that properly did I? It's tRNA methyltransferase complex you're suggesting, not methyltransferase complex - that might be okay then, just let me check...

Yes - tRNA methyltransferases are nuclear, but they also occur in bacteria and archea so I'll add 'tRNAs methyltransferase' under 'cytoplasm'. That exisiting term 'tRNA (m1A) methyltransferase complex' is in the wrong place then - I'll move that too...

Added new terms:

tRNA methyltransferase complex ; GO:0043527 tRNA (m2G10) methyltransferase complex ; GO:0043528

Moved 'tRNA (m1A) methyltransferase complex ; GO:0031515' from 'nucleus' to 'cytoplasm' because it occurs in bacteria as well as eukaryotes.
