We should use the relevant anatomy ontology (Uberon or FBbt depending on range, not FBcv) as reference for trivial development compositional terms, but we should pay attention to species-specificity. E.g.
GO:0007354 | zygotic determination of anterior/posterior axis, embryo | The specification of the anterior/posterior axis of the embryo by products of genes expressed in the zygote; exemplified in insects by the gap genes, pair rule genes and segment polarity gene cascade http://fly.ebi.ac.uk/allied-data/lk/interactive-fly/aimain/1aahome.htm, ISBN:0879694238
This is one of these GO terms that are a bit confused about their taxonomic scope. I'm guessing it was originally added for fly annotation and progressively generalized. It's currently used for mammalian genes, so it's not appropriate to have two drosophila specific references for such a broad fuzzy term.
Hi @hattrill
Can you provide PMIDs (or other sources) for the following fly terms? These links are dead.
Thanks, Pascale
