Hi,

Please may I have a new process term:

GO:new acrosomal matrix dispersal

PMID: 10418103

acrosin is involved in acrosomal matrix dispersal after acrosomal reaction P10323

cheers Evelyn

Evelyn,

This paper only shows binding and molecular function for this protein. Although dispersal of the acrosomal matrix is mentioned in the abstract and discussion, there are no results in the paper that show this role. Based on the discussion and other literature, I would suggest this term.

term name:acrosome matrix dispersal ; GO:new is_a:proteolysis ; GO:0006508 part_of: acrosome reaction ; GO:0007340 def:The proteolytic digestion of components in the acrosomal matrix that allows for there release into the egg. The dispersal of the components allows for the inner acrosomal membrane to interact with the egg. ref:PMID:3886029 ref:GOC:dph

term name: acrosome reaction ; GO:0007340 is_a:calcium ion-dependent exocytosis ; GO:0017156 part_of:fertilization (sensu Metazoa) ; GO:0007338 def:The discharge, by sperm, of a single, anterior secretory granule following their attachment to the zona pellucida surrounding the oocyte. The process begins with the fusion of the outer acrosomal membrane with the sperm plasma membrane and ends with the disperasl of the acrosomal contents into the egg. ref:GOC:dph ref:PMID:3886029

term name:membrane fusion involved in the acrosomal reaction ; GO:new is_a:membrane fusion ; GO:0006944 part_of:acrosome reaction ; GO:0007340 def:The fusion of the plasma membrane of the sperm with the outer acrosomal membrane. ref:GOC:dph ref:PMID:3886029

Thankyou David ..will look at your papers.. I was probably thinking of a NAS annotation can't remember now...but certainly I will try and seek experimental evidence

I see the new term has been added (thanks, David). In there anything else to do for this item, or can we close it?
