detailed lateral line terms #3495

Closed gocentral closed 9 years ago

gocentral commented 18 years ago

I've attempted to attach an obo file encompassing our lateral line term proposal. It is fairly detailed. MOST (not all) of the terms in the obo file are new terms. The higher level terms in this proposal which already exist in GO were added to help clarify the structure, and were added to this OBO file with just their name and their GO ID as part of their name....

I've also included an xls spreadsheet which shows the requested is_a links from the new terms to terms already existing in GO.

I'll try attaching the files now....

Wow! It's like cns all over again. :-) You did a lot of work.

I go to meetings in Seattle on Tuesday and I have to write my talk today and Monday. Can we leave these for review 'till I get back from Seattle and then I'll put them into the file the same way I did with the cns terms?

Do you want to write to the development interest group list to ask people to take a look if this is in their line?

Thanks,

Jen

Jen, Yes, I'll post a request to the dev. list to have a look at this proposal, and we can move towards implementation in the next couple of weeks. The lateral line turned out to be far more complex to model "properly" than was originally thought, so several curators here contributed to the development of the proposal. I guess if its worth doing..its worth doing properly!

Hi Doug,

Yes it's great that you've done it so comprehensively. Good idea to use the same submission system as with cns as well. Hopefully the merge will be smoother with this smaller set of terms. Did you need to alter anything with in the existing graph or have you just added new terms? It will be much easier for me to merge if I know this.

Thanks,

Jen

The proposal is strictly to add new terms. However, to get it all straight, I put some existing terms in the attached OBO file..so don't be fooled by these! You can tell which terms already exist in the GO because they have their GO ID in the term name, and they have no defs etc...they are just term stubs. I think the ones that are already in GO are just at the top of the graph...nothing hiding down low I don't think. -Doug

Hi Doug,

Sorry for the delay. These terms have been added now. If you want to use that submission system again that would be great. Would it be possible to leave the hyphens out of ISBN numbers in future? Thanks.

I haven't made this is_a complete yet but I'll give the excel file to Amelia as she has a script to put relationships in and so can do it very quickly.
