Hi Val,
This term is currently in a very general location because when I requested it, I didn't know enough about it to suggest something more specific, see this SF item:
[ 1410179 ] NTR: histone H3-K36 demethylase
There is a pending entry in the EC classification that may help place this term appropriately: http://www.chem.qmul.ac.uk/iubmb/enzyme/newenz.html\#1141127

O.K. that looks consistent.
cheers

Hi Val,
Sorry, could you clarify, what looks consistent?
Also, let me check, when I put in the string you used: "oxidoreductase activity, acting on single donors with incorporation of molecular oxygen, incorporation of two atoms of oxygen" into OBO-Edit, I get only one GOid:
GO:0016702
Are you suggesting that this term "histone demethylase activity (H3-K36 specific)" should get parentage under that term?
Just trying to clarify exactly what needs to be done so that someone, possibly even me, can do this.
thanks,
-Karen

it looks like the proposal is to place under 1.14.11 which is GO:0016706oxidoreductase activity, acting on paired donors, with incorporation or reduction of molecular oxygen, 2-oxoglutarate as one donor, and incorporation of one atom each of oxygen into both donors
this is a child term of the one which I am picking up from a mapping so we can probably go ahead and add this.

OK, moved
GO:0051864 histone demethylase activity (H3-K36 specific)
to be a child of
GO:0016706 oxidoreductase activity, acting on paired donors, with incorporation or reduction of molecular oxygen, 2-oxoglutarate as one donor, and incorporation of one atom each of oxygen into both donors

Is this occuring via an oxidation reaction, something i was reading implies it is, so should it have a parent to reflect this?
Uniprot entries containing this activity map to
"oxidoreductase activity, acting on single donors with incorporation of molecular oxygen, incorporation of two atoms of oxygen"
so if this isn't correct this mapping will need to be removed.
