ntr: astral microtubule stability #3868

Closed gocentral closed 9 years ago

gocentral commented 17 years ago

child of astral microtubule organization and biogenesis; GOid=GO:0030953

or do I mean 'astral microtuble stabilization?'.

I'm not up to speed on the distinction between attribute/process used for stability/stabilization.

for the same paper I need

cytoplasmic astral microtubule organization and biognensis --cytoplasmic astral microtubule stabilization ----regulation of ctoplasmic astral microtubule stabilizationm (+ve and -ve)

also there is an axonemal microtubule stabilization

but no 'microtubule stabilization'

added negative regulation of astral microtubule depolymerization GO:0032932, with 'astral microtubule stabilization' as an exact synonym

Stability is an attribute; stabilization is a process. In theory, we could either have 'regulation of stability' terms under regulation of biological quality or 'regulation of stabilization' terms under regulation of biological process. In practice, for microtubules we've opted for 'negative regulation of depolymerization' because that's essentially what MT stabilization is. (Tangential note: the same is true for 'RNA stabilization' according to the defs, so those terms could be renamed or given 'structured synonyms' if we feel like it.)
