Have a look at the 'osmotic response ; GO:0006970' node - I think there should be a term that covers this concept already there (salinity response? hypotonic response?).
These terms don't all have defintions at the moment - it would be useful if they did (it looks as though there might be a bit of redundancy) and the extra parent GO:0006950 Stress Response should probably be added to some/all according to how we define these terms.
Do you want to take this on or shall I?

Made several changes to make this area of the ontology clearer:
Changed the parent term name from "osmotic response" to "response to osmotic stress"
This has the child 'salinity response ; GO:0009651', which itself has two new children 'hyperosmotic salinity response ; GO:0042538' (of which one of the synonyms is 'salt tolerance' ) and 'hypotonic salinity response ; GO:0042539'.
The definitions are as follows:
term: response to osmotic stress goid: GO:0006970 definition: A change in state or activity of an organism or cell (in terms of movement, secretion, enzyme production, gene expression etc.) as a result of the perception of an increase or decrease in the concentration of solutes outside the organism or cell.
term: hyperosmotic response goid: GO:0006972 definition: A change in state or activity of an organism or cell (in terms of movement, secretion, enzyme production, gene expression etc.) as a result of the perception of a hyperosmotic environment i.e. an environment with a higher concentration of solutes than the organism or cell.
term: hyperosmotic salinity response goid: GO:0042538 definition: A change in state or activity of an organism or cell (in terms of movement, secretion, enzyme production, gene expression etc.) as a result of the perception of an increase in the concentration of salt (usually Na+ ions) in the environment.
term: hypotonic response goid: GO:0006971 definition: A change in state or activity of an organism or cell (in terms of movement, secretion, enzyme production, gene expression etc.) as a result of the perception of a hypotonic environment, i.e. an environment with a lower concentration of solutes than the organism or cell.
term: hypotonic salinity response goid: GO:0042539 definition: A change in state or activity of an organism or cell (in terms of movement, secretion, enzyme production, gene expression etc.) as a result of the perception of an decrease in the concen\ tration of salt in the environment.

Response to salt Parent: GO:0006950 Stress Response (P) Defination: A change in state or activity of an organism or cell that occurs in response to an excess of salt, particurlary, but not limited to, Na+ and Cl- ions.
