should this have parent post-translational protein modification?

Can't, cos I've found some papers on cotranslational protein acetylation. Could add child terms, tho, if they'd be useful.

Hmm, I see. I guess we will need child tems the(I want ot 'gather' all of my post translational modifications and the acetylases are not grouped...

ok, added co-translational protein amino acid acetylation GO:0034420 post-translational protein amino acid acetylation GO:0034421

I just talked with Midori about this. Some additional granularity may help, then again it may not. Amino-terminal acetylation is thought to be co-translational accompanying amino-terminal processing (ie, initiator methionine removal). This theoretically applies to all amino acids, but in fact, is limited to a slightly restricted set of amino acids depending on organism, tissue and organelle. Side-chain acetylation on N6-lysine, O3-serine, O3-threonine, and S-cysteine is thought to be exclusively post-translational.

Thanks, John, thats OK, I can use 'protein modification' process as a grouping term instead.

midori, I just spotted charged-tRNA modification is a child of 'protein modification' , you might want to move that?

oh I see what this is. would charged "tRNA amino acid modification" be clearer?

I see your point. I've renamed GO:0019988 to 'charged-tRNA amino acid modification', with the old name as an exact synonym.
