NTR: Imd signaling pathway #5600

Closed gocentral closed 9 years ago

I'd like the new terms:

Imd signaling pathway regulation of Imd signaling pathway positive regulation of Imd signaling pathway negative regulation of Imd signaling pathway

Imd is neither the signal molecule nor the receptor but the protein that binds the receptor on the intracellular side. Not confident that the naming of this pathway fits plans for signaling revamp so open to suggestions but this reflects the common name for this process in Drosophila.

Note that this closely resembles the mammalian TNF signaling pathway but the outcome of that is the production of cytokines rather than antimicrobial peptides. Not completely sure whether these need separate terms or not but couldn't find a GO term for the mammalian one anyway.

PMID:18390723 PMID:18775745 PMID:18692774

Possible def: "The series of molecular signals initiated by binding of peptidoglycan to a receptor on the surface of the target cell and mediated by Imd. The main outcome of the Imd signaling is the production of antimicrobial peptides."

probably is_a: GO:0002220 ! innate immune response activating cell surface receptor signaling pathway

exact synonym: immune deficiency pathway exact synonym: immune deficiency signaling pathway exact synonym: Imd signalling pathway

Thanks,

Susan

The paper that describes the receptors for this is: PMID: 18688280

Added:

peptidoglycan recognition protein signaling pathway ; GO:0061057 regulation of peptidoglycan protein signaling pathway ; GO:0061058 positive regulation of peptidoglycan protein signaling pathway ; GO:0061059 negative regulation of peptidoglycan protein signaling pathway ; GO:0061060

Susan,

I didn't make this cell surface linked because it looks like one of the receptors is in the cytoplasm. Instead, I just made it part of the defense response to bacterium. I also had to make the regulation terms go straight up to regulation of biological process because it looks like the regulation terms in the signaling part of the graph are all messed up.
