For phage recognition, we have 'viral entry ; GO:0046718' - the process by which a virion enters a host cell, including virion attachment and penetration. Would that work? The children, virion attachment and virion penetration go into greater depth if you want to be more specific. I presume the term is talking about a viral protein rather than one in the host...?
For phage maturation, we have 'viral particle maturation ; GO:0019075' - the assembly of the component viral parts into an infectious virion.

Hi,
Is it possible to have new term
'phage recognition' perhaps a child of response to viruses/viral perception... could call it 'phage perception'. SPKW Definition: Protein involved in phage recognition. Necessary for adsorption of the virion into the host cell.
Also need term for 'phage maturation' could be child/synonym to GO:0019067 'viral assembly, maturation, egress, and release'
SPKW Definition Protein involved in phage maturation, the formation of complete phage viruses ready for release.
cheers Ev
