I am, as we speak, going through the cellular process portion of the graph. Can we wait on these changes until the rearrangements are done. I plan to send it to Tanya on Wednesday afternoon. I agree with almost all of your comments above. This post emphasizes the need of a cell type ontology as almost all of these are cross products between cell types and determination terms.

Additional terms also needed:
Can I have a new process term please:
term: crystal cell differentiation parent: hemocyte differentiation definition: The process by which a hemocyte precursor cell acquires the characteristics of a crystal cell, a class of cells that contain crystalline inclusions and are involved in the melanization of pathogenic material in the hemolymph. ref: http://sdb.bio.purdue.edu/fly/gene/serpent3.htm
also (with all the standard defs):
term: regulation of crystal cell differentiation parent: crystal cell differentiation parent: regulation of hemocyte differentiation
term: negative regulation of crystal cell differentiation parent: regulation of crystal cell differentiation parent: negative regulation of hemocyte differentiation
term: positive regulation of crystal cell differentiation parent: regulation of crystal cell differentiation parent: positive regulation of hemocyte differentiation

Added 'regulation of xxx cell fate' for all the cell types you mention in the first part, the general arrangement is:
General arrangement:
cell differentiation ---<cell fate commitment ------<cell fate determination ------<cell fate specification ---------<regulation of cell fate ------------<negative regulation of cell fate
the new ids are:
GO:0042659 JL regulation of cell fate GO:0042660 JL positive regualtion of cell fate GO:0042661 JL regulation of mesoderm cell fate GO:0042662 JL negative regulation of mesoderm cell fate GO:0042663 JL regulation of endoderm cell fate GO:0042664 JL negative regulation of endoderm cell fate GO:0042665 JL regulation of ectoderm cell fate GO:0042666 JL negative regulation of ectoderm cell fate GO:0042667 JL hair cell fate specification GO:0042668 JL hair cell fate determination GO:0042669 JL regualtion of hair cell fate GO:0042670 JL retinal cone cell differentiation GO:0042671 JL retinal cone cell fate determination GO:0042672 JL retinal cone cell fate specification GO:0042673 JL regualtion of retinal cone cell fate GO:0042674 JL cone cell differentiation (sensu Drosophila) GO:0042675 JL cone cell differentiation GO:0042676 JL cone cell fate commitment GO:0042677 JL cone cell fate determination (sensu Drosophila) GO:0042678 JL cone cell fate specification (sensu Drosophila) GO:0042679 JL cone cell fate specification GO:0042680 JL cone cell fate determination GO:0042681 JL regulation of cone cell fate (sensu Drosophila) GO:0042682 JL regulation of cone cell fate GO:0042683 JL negative regulation of cone cell fate GO:0042684 JL cardioblast cell fate commitment GO:0042685 JL cardioblast cell fate specification GO:0042686 JL regulation of cardioblast cell fate GO:0042687 JL negative regulation of cardioblast cell fate GO:0042688 JL crystal cell differentiation GO:0042689 JL regualtion of crystal cell differentiation GO:0042690 JL negative regualtion of crystal cell differentiation GO:0042691 JL positive regualtion of crystal cell differentiation

Hi,
I have a set of genes to annotate, whose products supress specific cell fates.
Could I have some new process terms to cover these- either 'negative regulation of cell fate...' or 'restriction of cell fate....', or supression of cell fate...'
parent: the corresponding cell fate commitment term.
Example def: Restriction or prevention of a cell from adopting a specific cell fate.
negative regulation of cell fate commitment negative regulation of cell fate specification negative regulation of cell fate determination
negative regulation of mesoderm cell fate commitment negative regulation of mesoderm cell fate determination negative regulation of mesoderm cell fate specification
negative regulation of endoderm cell fate commitment negative regulation of endoderm cell fate determination negative regulation of endoderm cell fate specification
negative regulation of ectoderm cell fate commitment negative regulation of ectoderm cell fate determination negative regulation of ectoderm cell fate specification
negative regulation of retinal cone cell fate commitment
negative regulation of cone cell fate commitment (sensu Drosophila)
negative regulation of hair cell fate commitment
negative regulation of cardioblast cell fate determination
Also:
cardioblast determination ; GO:0007510 could this be changed to cardioblast cell fate determination, and given the 'cell fate determination ; GO:0001709 parent?
determination of muscle identity could this be changed to muscle cell fate determination, and given the 'cell fate determination ; GO:0001709 parent?
... or does determination of muscle/cardioblast involve more than just cell fate decisions?
Finally, could these terms be given the 'cell fate determination' parent? (IS A)
myoblast determination ; GO:0007518 determination of glial fate ; GO:0007403 determination of ganglion mother cell fate ; GO:0007402 neuroblast determination ; GO:0007400 determination of sensory organ precursor cell fate ; GO:0016360 oocyte determination ; GO:0007294 pole cell determination ; GO:0007278 neuroblast determination ; GO:0007400
also R8 cell fate specification ; GO:0045464 should be made a child of cell fate specification
Thanks! becky
