Salvador (Sav)/Warts (Wts)/Hippo (Hpo) (SWH) signaling pathw #7335

The Salvador (Sav)/Warts (Wts)/Hippo (Hpo) (SWH) signaling pathway also known as Hippo signaling pathway is a signaling pathway that plays a pivotal role in organ size control and tumor suppression by restricting proliferation and promoting apoptosis. The core of this pathway is composed of a kinase cascade wherein Hippo (Hpo), in complex with its regulatory protein Salvador (Sav), phosphorylates and activates Warts (Wts) in complex with its regulatory protein Mats, which in turn phosphorylates and inactivates the Yorkie (Yki) oncoprotein.

The Hippo pathway defined originally in Drosophila melanogaster is conserved in mammals.

The Drosophila core components Hippo, Sav, Wts, and Mats are conserved in mammals MST1/2, SAV1, LATS1/2, and MOB1.

Added new terms:

hippo signaling pathway ; GO:00035329 synonym:Salvador-Warts-Hippo signaling pathway synonym: SWH signaling pathway

And regulation terms: regulation of hippo signaling pathway ; GO:0035330 negative regulation of hippo signaling pathway ; GO:0003531 positive regulation of hippo signaling pathway ; GO:0003532

Thanks, Becky
