To do along with obsoleting GO:0030400
add a new term -- %binding ; GO:0005488 --- %protein binding ; GO:0005515 ---- %protein binding, bridging ; GO:new
definition: Interacting selectively with two or more protein molecules, or a protein and another macromolecule or complex simultaneously, thereby physically linking the bound proteins or complexes to each other.

How about:
%binding ; GO:0005488 %protein binding ; GO:0005515 %protein binding, bridging ; GO:new
definition: Interacting selectively with two or more protein molecules simultaneously, thereby physically linking the bound proteins (or protein complexes) to each other.
Comments on the term and definition welcome. Midori

GO:0030400 made obsolete.
Added new term as described, with a slight edit to the def. term: protein binding, bridging goid: GO:0030674 definition: Interacting selectively with two or more protein molecules, or a protein and another macromelecule or complex simultaneously, thereby physically linking the bound proteins or complexes to each other. definition_reference: GO:mah

Here's another term that really needs some work:
protease substrate recruitment factor activity ; GO:0030400
def: A recruiting factor or adaptor molecule associated with the proteasome that activates degradation of specific proteasomal substrates and links them to the degradation machinery; it is not involved in ubiquitination; does not possess proteolytic activity. ref: PMID:11500370
Probably the best thing to do is make this term obsolete, because the definition is that of a gene product, and the term isn't that great as a description of an activity. There's only one gene product annotated to it (product of S. cerevisiae CIC1, described in the paper cited for the definition).
