peptidoglycan synthetase activity GO:0008954

This should be made obsolete because it is ambiguous, and has been used to annotate gene products with very different activities. 'Consider' terms:

peptidoglycan glycosyltransferase GO:0008955 peptidoglycan L,D-transpeptidase activity GO:0071972
