inhibition of peptidase activity in another organism #8871

Hi

I'd like to suggest a new GO term 'negative regulation of peptidase activity in other organism'.

It would be similar to GO:0052180 'negative regulation of peptidase activity in other organism involved in symbiotic interaction' but not be limited to symbiotic interactions. Consequently, a definition could be something along the lines of 'Any process in which an organism stops, prevents, or reduces the frequency, rate or extent of protease activity, the catalysis of the hydrolysis of peptide bonds in a protein, in another organism.'

Background: I am working on a leech protein, P86681, which is a peptidase inhibitor as described in PMID:10595640. Ultimately, the protein's activity leads to an inhibition of blood coagluation in the organism the leech is feeding on which can be described using GO:0035899 negative regulation of blood coagulation in other organism but this may not always be the case. Hence the suggested new term.

Thanks. Klemens
