Hi Val,

We have: signal transduction involved in mitotic cell cycle checkpoint ; GO:0072413

which links up to regulation of mitotic cell cycle. Is that too specific? Do you have a PMID?

I don't have a specific Pubmed but it could be any of many which deal with specific "signal transduction" type pathways which are not necessarily always acting in a checkpoint capacity (although they may also function in checkpoint pathways)

So a term which could be used to annotate the canonical cell cycle regulators cdc2(Cdk1), cdc13 (mitotic cyclin), cdc25 etc , just the signalling pathways parts of the process.

I have 283 genes annotated to "regulation of mitotic cell cycle" but only 79 are involved in signal transduction pathways (for example the septation iniitiation network which regulates cytokinesis, the pathways that senses cell size etc) It would be useful to have a term which could be used to access this set of genes without doing an intersection query. Mitotic cell cycle checkpoint would be a small subset of these.

Let me know if this doesn't make sense.

we still have an issue that a lot of the "cell cycle regulation" doesn't have a signalling parent. I'll deal with that later with a new ticket.... I think it will be one of the final parts of the overhaul. It will be clearer when other stuff is sorted.

As an aside, I didn't get an alert from the last 2 changes to this ticket, so it seems that somehow SF isn't sending updates to the submitter for tickets pre-migration. This is probably related to the other problems that a lot of the older tickets are also not searchable. I will open a jira ticket for this at some point as its really a problem that we cannot access all of these archived posts.
