3 years ago The term "neurotransmitter clearance" corresponds to nothing in GO and,looking at the really diverse transport and catabolism processes grouped under this term in Reactome, there probably is not a good GO term to propose. The short-term fix, now done, is to remove the GO BP term from the grouping pathway "neurotransmitter clearance" and add transport and catabolism BP terms as appropriate to the events in the group. (Pathways2GO uses an otherwise acceptable Reactome pathway that lacks a BP term to generate a GO-CAM whose BP term is the root biological_process.) The long term fix, which can be a part of #134 (identify grouping pathways) to use that exercise also to identify and clean up Reactome grouping pathways whose part_of children are too heterogeneous (another definition and test to construct).
Resolve the specific issue that started #113 , which noted a grouping pathway inow manually annotated with GO:0042136 "neurotransmitter biosynthetic process". The pathway collects reactions and small pathways that clear neurotransmitters by re-uptake, diffusion, or catabolism. Edit the BP annotations of the pathway and its children to capture this diversity.
