Ion's API offers HTTP basic authentication, which I guess would be a somewhat more convenient way of getting a session ID. But I don't know, that's kind of crappy.

Some notes from what I've seen over the past few weeks:

Everything is in JSON. Yes. And a lot more logically ordered and everything, byebye iodine-api-docs.
Not as much information is conveniently provided in the Eighth API, e.g. the lists of signups and blocks must be queried separately. This means that deciding what to sync needs to be done quite carefully.
EighthActvInstance is known as an EighthScheduledActivity in Ion, and it now has its own ID apart from that of the block and activity.
The /activities endpoint doesn't work, oops.
Everything seems to be there on the Student Directory API, even things entered manually on Iodine (probably thanks to LDAP), though at least the FCPS student ID and pictures are missing.

Judging from the activity with AID 3067, Ion is on target to replace Iodine by the next school year
