Fanfiction Reader app not working #72

Fanfiction reader app still not working I hope someone fixes it soon.

@ErinArt from what I understand, the app only checks for new chapters instead of redownloading every chapter. I could be wrong but it does this by using the mobile version of m.fanfiction.net and then matches the story via the id number and then checks for new updates.

@hallowknight99 I have a solution that you guys can use if you don't want to do mass bulk updating. If you set follow your stories, fanfiction sends a notification to your email advising you that a new chapter is out. Then choose the category that story is updated, you can manually update the specific story only.

This gives me an idea of potentially making a script that reads the notification, probably in a hidden mobile browser and somehow direct it at the app to manually update stories in the background in real-time. But this is far outside my experience at this point of time. I wouldn't even know where to begin lol.

@Luminatrix-eng In the settings under: updating - incremental updating you get the option to choose from: 'updating a story will redownload every chapter' or 'updating a story will only download new chapters. revised chapters will not be updated'. That's what I meant. I have it saved on the first option. My thought process was that, because it has to redownload whole stories, and as such has a longer downloading time, it gets noticed much faster. But as I said before, as I have not tried the other option, it is just a thought.

@ErinArt i tried both and i am stll having the same connection issues.

@Quetzalcoatless this sounds very promising to my limited knowledge. If you ever try it can you share the results or can you atleast try to download a new 100-150+ chapters story see if there is any problem? (Do this several times if possible pls)

Edit:i found a 700+chapter story for testing purposses (though it is only 590k words mine stopped downloading betwren 100 and 150 chapters despite chapters being very short) Id: 3595112

Is that an official update or beta update? How can I update the apk manually without using playstore?

Where can I download Fanfiction Reader v1.63. This link doesn't work for me http://www.solidfiles.com/v/2deRA8RM564rM. I ryed to find online but I only found c 1.57b I think

I found the link in another discussion, here it is: https://apkpure.com/fanfiction-reader/com.spicymango.fanfictionreader That's where I downloaded older versions.

Try this! It just doesnt show up in searches but the actual latest version is still in play store. Only for the older version you need the search other places. (At least if you want to transfer archives.) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.spicymango.fanfictionreader

Hi! The app is not working for me. Can’t download any new chapters for the fics in my library, and can’t read any stories not in it. I just get “1/1”, even if there are several chapters. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling, didn’t work. And the link above doesn’t work for me. The app doesn’t appear in Google Play when searching for it anymore either.

So long story short the Fanfiction.net website has a security measure added to it last year. And Everytime the website updates the security info the app needs tobe updated to get around it, to download and update story's ect. The app creator responded above that they will work on updating the app again to get around the most recent security update but it might be Abit because life happens. Thats also why you can't find it on the Google play Store anymore.
