Description of request

For the species Arnica montana ( tax_tree(911341) - https://goat.genomehubs.org/record?recordId=436207&result=taxon&taxonomy=ncbi#Arnica%20montana ), the karyotype information in GoaT is garbled for some reason (screenshot attached). Chromosome number and haploid number are correct, but ploidy should be 2 as a direct observation (e.g. https://www.jstor.org/stable/43781646 [jstor.org] - this result is so old that I have difficulty finding an original reference, however the Tropicos database: http://legacy.tropicos.org/Name/2701747?tab=chromosomecounts [legacy.tropicos.org] also lists several apparent re-counts). Citing the Kew C-values database as a reference for ploidy also seems odd, since at least the „externally visible" part of this database only contains genome sizes, not chromosome counts. Ploidy 4 might make sense as an ancestral value though, since many species from the same genus appear to have higher ploidy - however, the source for the ancestral value here is apparently a diploid species from a different genus.

If you have the time, perhaps you could correct the direct ploidy value for this species to avoid further confusion. Thank you very much for your help, and all the effort you & your colleagues put into GoaT.

• Originally, the Kew file has been updated from Kew's internal documents (last updated - 24 Oct 2018). It was equivalent to the live database, but after undergoing curation.
• The live site does not have ploidy for the species (image)
