latest changes for the 12.x version

I have cleaned a little bit my fork:

• fixed QA errors with repoman, now also the player can be merged
• adopted latest patchelf-0.9 (now in portage) to avoid binary patches
• fixed a preserve-libs issue with libgksu2.so.0

There is still an error in one of the external systemd services currently packaged as vmware-systemd-gentoo-01.tgz. I have created a pull request to the @akhuettel repo to fix the issue but a new release of the scripts is needed to be correctly referenced in the ebuilds.

I'd suggest to do real merges with the pull requests to avoid losing information logged in the commits

I'm sorry, I only noticed this PR when I had already integrated the changes manually. Next time we do real merges.
